Please follow these guidelines for optimal tattoo healing, based on the application method used by your artist:

If your tattoo was covered with a plastic film (e.g., saran wrap):

  • Remove the film within one to two hours of returning home. Do not re-wrap the tattoo; it requires exposure to air for proper healing, similar to any open wound.

  • Clean the tattoo gently with an antibacterial soap. Use clean hands only; avoid washcloths or abrasive materials.

  • Pat the area dry with a clean paper towel. Do not rub.

  • Ensure your hands are thoroughly washed before touching the tattoo.

  • For the first three to four days, apply a thin layer of the aftercare crème your artist suggested, once a day. Rub the crème in completely; avoid applying excessive amounts.

  • For the first night only, you may re-wrap the tattoo with plastic film to prevent adhesion to bed linens. Avoid cloth bandages, as they can interfere with the healing process.

  • Wear loose, clean clothing over the tattooed area for the first two weeks. Avoid abrasive fabrics.

  • Around the third or fourth day, the tattoo will begin to peel; this is a normal part of the healing process. Continue to apply the aftercare crème your artist suggested once a day for at least two weeks. Refrain from picking at the peeling skin.

If your tattoo was covered with a second-skin adhesive bandage:

  • Leave the bandage in place for three days.

  • After three days, carefully remove the bandage in the shower.

  • Maintain consistent moisturization with the aftercare crème your artist suggested, once a day, for at least two weeks.

General Aftercare:

  • The key to successful tattoo healing is maintaining cleanliness and adequate moisturization. Adhering to these instructions will promote optimal results, and you'll be golden!
